THE RULES AND CONDITIONS:
Applicants must be in grade 10, 11, or 12. The VJS Board will be selecting successful applicants in June and will notify all applicants once a decision has been made.
MUSIC TEACHER REFERENCE:
You MUST include a brief letter of recommendation from one of your current music teachers (private or school).
You must provide 3-5 recordings of you playing or performing. Upon receipt of the confirmation email, please send as a MP3 or WAV files in a follow-up email or emails to [email protected]
For each track/recording include:
- Your name and instrument
- Describe the track including:
- song title
- where & when this was recorded
- what you did on the recording
Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Please note that the Vernon Jazz Society reserves the right to award any number of bursaries and to determine the value based on the musicianship and musical direction of the candidates. While applicants do not need to be enrolled in a post-secondary music program, priority will be given to those applicants who are, provided all else is equal. Similarly, School District #22 applicants will receive preference, should all other factors be equal. Successful and unsuccessful candidates will receive written notification by mail (make sure your mailing address is correct!).
NOTA BENE: Bursaries will be granted as a reimbursement for a music-related expense (Tuition in a post-secondary music program, musical equipment/sheet music purchase, lessons, summer music program, etc.)

The VJS pays its bursary recipients by cheque. Please indicate the full name of the person to whom the cheque is to be made out should your application be successful.
