NYE Tank and Poppa Dawg Together!

NYE December 31, 2023

This New Years Eve celebration should not be missed!

The VJC brings you not one, but two phenomenal blues musicians to start your year right.  Rick Halisheff and Sherman Doucette will share the stage to deliver what promises to be an evening to remember.

Sherman “Tank” Doucette is our friend and a great blues musician.   There is only one Tank in the blues world – the real deal and has the scars and badges to prove it. A former thirty year veteran of the Vancouver music scene – Yale Hotel host & house band for several years a very colorful past sharing the stage with blues legends such as John Lee Hooker / Albert Collins / Long John Baldry & many more. A soulful singer – harmonica virtuoso – any one who has seen him perform will agree he puts on an unforgettable show.

“Rick ‘Poppa Dawg’ Halisheff has been a mainstay on the Western Canadian blues scene for over 25 years, making a name for himself based on his strong vocal and guitar abilities as well as being a seasoned songwriter. Rick has released 4 CDs with his band ‘Dogskin Suit’ and two solo efforts. Over the years Rick has won 2 local ‘Honour in the Arts’ awards as well making it to the semi-finals of the 29th International Blues Challenge with his band in Memphis in 2013.  Recently, Rick was awarded with the best blues act from the Gonzo Okanagan Peoples choice award.
