Led by trombonist Bob Rogers, the Bob Rogers Band performs primarily original compositions by Bob, as well as tunes by Trombone Shorty, Maceo Parker and original takes of some favourite jazz standards. While they are most at home playing modern funk influenced jazz, the evening will feature a wide range of styles. Originally from Vancouver, Bob now calls Vernon home. He has played for many years as a member of the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra, and has also played with and/or recorded for artists and groups including Natalie Cole, Aerosmith, The Temptations, the Bobby Hales Big Band, Fred Stride’s West Coast Jazz Orchestra, Hugh Fraser’s VEJI big band, the Victoria Symphony, Vancouver Opera and numerous small jazz and chamber groups. After retiring from teaching in Revelstoke in 2021 Bob has been an active member of the Okanagan musical community and and currently performs regularly in the Major Mambo latin quintet, the Slide Rule trombone quartet, the Gary Cable Project. In addition to Bob on trombone and vocals, the Bob Rogers band also features Chris Petterson, sax, Jordan Dick, guitar, Colin Spence, keyboards, Shannon Sternloff, bass and Trevor Wallach, drums.
